BIPOC Diversity Scholarship
red lila School of Yoga is committed to increasing diversity in the yoga community by making yoga teacher training more accessible. One of the ways that we plan to do that is through our newly launched BIPOC Diversity Scholarship for our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program. We believe representation matters, and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) are currently under-represented in the yoga community especially as yoga teachers. Our BIPOC Diversity Scholarship aims to create equity in the accessibility of Yoga Teacher Training by offering tuition assistance to aspiring yoga teachers in the BIPOC community.
The Mission
Our goal is to diversify who teaches yoga and make yoga more accessible by training teachers within BIPOC communities.
Scholarship Details
We have four partial Scholarships for four individuals of the BIPOC community.
If awarded this scholarship, your total tuition will be $1,260.
Payment plans are available for scholarship recipients. If you are awarded a scholarship, you may elect to split your remaining tuition into four or five monthly payments with all tuition paid by the last day of the training for which you are registered.
Your first payment will be due within one month of being awarded the scholarship
This is not a scholarship based on financial need, rather an invitation to BIPOC yogis to become teachers of yoga so yoga can be a more inclusive and accessible environment for everyone.
Scholarship Criteria
Applicants must be a member of the BIPOC community.
Because this is a professional certification course, those who apply must meet our existing standards for entry into Yoga Teacher Training. This includes having a yoga practice (home-based or studio-based) for at least 6 consistent months.
Applicants should have the goal of teaching yoga in some capacity upon graduation from training.

A Note From Our Teaching Faculty
“We acknowledge that this scholarship doesn’t address every barrier in the yoga community, and we have ongoing work to do to increase accessibility and create equity in yoga. This Diversity Scholarship is part of ongoing work. If you have suggestions for barriers that you think we can address in our yoga school, or for ways to reach communities of color to continue our work on inclusivity, please email us at connect@redlilayoga.com
We recognize that right now our teaching team does not represent the diversity we seek to see in yoga and know that it is important for us to do personal work in order to train BIPOC. We are currently making efforts to grow our team to include members of the BIPOC community and look forward to sharing the results of these efforts with you.”
